Bokulich Lab: Home of highly cited research
Good news everyone! N. Bokulich has been awarded the 2024 Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher award (https://clarivate.com/highly-cited-researchers/) in recognition of exceptional research performance, demonstrating significant and broad influence in the field of Biology and Biochemistry (top 1% rank by citation count over the past decade). We would like to thank the members of the group and our collaborators for the excellent environment and opportunities that made this research possible.
Welcome Fannie!
We are very pleased to welcome Fannie Kerff to the FSB Team! Fannie joins the team as a PhD student who will be conducting metagenome sequencing-guided investigation of infant gut microbiome development during early life. We look forward to collaborating!
New project: food contact chemicals and the microbiome
Congratulations to Nicholas (and to collaborators Shana Sturla and Serina Robinson) for a new project, "FluxiFork", funded by UniScientia Foundation and coordinated by the World Food Systems Center. This project extends our collaboration with EAWAG to examine cross-talk between food contact chemicals and the microbiome. Exciting findings ahead!
Welcome Eve!
We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Eve Beauchemin to the FSB Team! Eve joins the team as a postdoctoral researcher who will be investigating microbiome establishment within food systems using novel DNA sequencing-based technologies. We look forward to collaborating!

Happy 2024! We are pleased to have Vinzent Risch join FSB at the start of this year as a research software engineer. Vinzent previously did his masters thesis in the group, followed by an internship in the group.
HealthFerm Citizen Science - update and delicious recipe!
The HealthFerm Citizen Science project has had a splendid start in 2023, growing to more than 500 participants since the launch of the project in September 2023.

Lena Flörl and Rodrigo Hernandez Velazquez won the "best poster award" at the World Food System Center Food Day @ETH event for their poster "Microbial biodiversity of fermented foods: a nutritional, cultural, and economic resource".

HealthFerm meeting and launch of Citizen Science project
We were pleased to host the annual HealthFerm meeting and workshop at ETH Zurich in early September. Around 70 researchers came to the ETH for 3 days to discuss research progress, as well as a workshop for early researchers.
